Let's say Spacemart is buying wheat at 12 credits, and you find Farm Ceti IV selling it for a measly 6 credits. There are several trading modules for your ship - they let you see buy/sell prices on any station on your map I think. That's because there is some form of economy at work. Best Buys locator I think? I'll get into this below. Trading: There is some sort of economy module you can install on your ship to see buy/sell prices from any discovered station on your map. It was rather tricky but it could net you some extra cash for selling the ship, or if you somehow manage to become affluent, you can remote pilot that captured ship after repairing it.ģ. * I remember being able to capture enemy ships sometimes after they'd eject. Fire SHORT bursts and only when you're in range and are sure of a hit. I think there IS one, but fuck if I remember. * I don't remember ever finding out where my gun energy meter was. Use them to slightly corkscrew your craft to throw off enemies' hit prediction. Also, I believe your WASD keys are lateral thrusters. Combat: Your ship has a little bit of "afterburner slide" (from Wing Commander) on turns. You won't necessarily have all the stargates on your map at first, which can royally suck balls.Ģ. Speaking of sensor blips, what you can see on your map and stuff IS limited by your sensor range. There are two ways to steer: The EVE way, where you click on one of your sensor blip things and it turns your ship towards it, and the mouse. Some random shit I kind of halfway remember:ġ. I assume that you're not too proud not to use a map. That said, it's been a LONG time since I fired 'er up. I struggled my way through X3 for a while, even got my own space station and illegal distillery network. So what I wondered was: is there some really obvious tactic or aspect of gameplay that I'm missing? Have I mistakenly selected 'punishingly tedious' setting in some menu somewhere or forgotten the key shortcut that activates the fun module on my ship? Please help me because I want to like this game, it cried out to be liked but all I see is that in the last hour I've made 100 credits in profit and only need another 49,900 to repair the damage to my ship It's probably a great game but it puts far too many barriers up that seem designed to slow down the player's progress as much as possible that it sometimes feels like punishment rather than play. I'm trying not to do a ghost whistler here and complain that it's too hard.
